Legoland

Legoland!! DIS sponsored a day trip to the original Legoland in Billund, Denmark. Billund is about a 3 hour ride away (by bus) and on the largest section of Denmark, Jutland. Last Sunday, well two Sundays ago now, we left at 10am and got back around 9pm...so fun!

Here's Nadine, myself, Chris, and Garrett in a candid shot under the sign...I think Chris and I were the only ones ready.

We encountered all this before even making it into the theme park!

First we came to the mini Legoland, that had all sorts of things made out of Legos from cities (done to scale) to animals to airports to this...the largest passenger jet in the world! Its size doesn't look all that impressive until you see how small the vehicles and people are outside it comparatively. I don't think it's actually flown yet, but Singapore Airlines will be the first. The height from the tip of the tail to the ground, in real life, is 5 giraffes and approximately 750,000 Lego bricks were used to create this.

The first city we came to was...Amsterdam, where Jordan and I were just a week before! You can see the canals and I actually have a picture of this tower in the pictures from that post. This is an original watch tower for the city until the city expanded, leaving no purpose for it until the clock part was added onto the top.

This city = 2.1 million Lego blocks

Here's more of it...I even have a picture in the Amsterdam post of the bridge to the left!

...or maybe it's this one.

One more...this is the outskirts of Amsterdam, a piece of the Princegracht, Herengracht, etc. canals.

The oh-so-dear Nyhavn harbor in Copenhagen I took pictures of at the beginning of the semester...now that it's starting to warm up, the sidewalks will be full of people relaxing and eating in outdoor patios.

I'm not sure, but this might be the inspiration for the Cinderella castle, the Neushwanstein Castle...or else it was just a paranoid man who built his castle in the Alps for privacy. 236,000 Lego blocks.

Another Copenhagen feature--Amalienborg Platz! This is where the Royal Family lives and take notice to the statue in the middle because you'll be seeing it again in the next post!

The Little Mermaid :)

And, more of the harbor area located near the Little Mermaid. I also took some pictures of this area at the beginning of the semester.

And jumping the pond, here is the Chinese Theater in the Hollywood hills back home.

This is a castle somewhere in Scotland...silly me didn't take a picture of the plaque so I could remember where it was!

I think it's an oil rig?

Everything was so detailed! Here's a little playground...that's as far in as I could zoom in and it's still tiny! This playground measured maybe 7-8 inches in height.

This is Bergen, Norway...a place that is slightly more expensive than Copenhagen I believe. It's full of beautiful harbors and fjords and such. Garrett went here about a month ago with his brothers and Hilary's going to be here in a couple weeks!

And they visited this church!

Unfortunately, we were too big to go on the safari ride...didn't stop us from doing some ostrich/giraffe sightseeing though!

Alright, we all recognize this one....I'll give you a hint...It's located in one of my favorite cities! and I'm not quite sure what's below it.

Here's the Parthenon in Greece, which is on my list of places to see!

And, another one from home...the House of Congress. This made me remember that I put one of those 3-D puzzles of this together about 9 years ago.

Then........we're onto the rides part! We opted out of this one because those who didn't have a poncho were soaked by the end! A couple of friends went on it only to find out that the huge dryer they have outside the ride was out of order hahaha.

Instead, we went on two roller coasters, twice each...one called the Speed Racer located behind this castle and one that goes through it. Funny thing is that we didn't realize it was a roller coaster when we got on the one inside this castle because we started out simply going through the dungeon areas seeing all the Lego creations they made and then all of a sudden, when we thought the ride was just finishing...it speed up and whipped us around some corkscrew turns.

Taking a stroll through Legoredo, we saw Crazy Horse and...

...Mount Rushmore!

After the Wild West, we're on to sea world. This reminded me of my friend Kelly and Underwater World at the Mall of America....she used to work there and took me on a tour.

Buried treasure!

At the end they had all the tanks with things you could touch so Garrett and I both touched some sea urchins before...

Hitting up the 4-D movie that was there and I honestly don't remember what it was about except that we got snowed on, spit at, and sneezed on....all part of the interactive movie :)

Check that one off the list! After the movie we made it back to the bus just in time to take a three hour nap on the way home.

Sorry for not getting these out sooner...blogger has been having some problems letting me upload pictures! I'm working on the next ones as much as I can though!

I almost forgot! Here's some lovely music for your ears compliments of the Legoland Trio! Hahaha it's so bad, it's go...well let's just say it's awesomely bad.

Legoland is awesome....I can't believe the detail. And you're right the music at the end was horrible...but made me laugh. Love the statue of liberty...I love seeing the lego version of your earlier adventures.

thanks for all the time you put into your blog....we love it!
