Smorrebrod!!

Last week marked my first experience with Smorrebrod (pronounced S'more Brood, at least I think so...i'm still working on it!) Chris, Hilary and I went out to lunch to get this traditional Danish sandwich. We walked into a cafe in Albertslund and trying to blend in as much as possible asked if we could get the Smorrebrod special. Since we'd never seen it we had no idea what was even part of the sandwich, which was pretty apparent by the blank looks on our faces when we're asked what type we wanted. Therefore, still trying not to bring too much attention to ourselves we took three of the first option he said--Roast beef.

It consisted of a slice of rye bread, quite rare roast beef, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a mixture of egg yolk, mustard, and mayo with a bit of cheese on top. It wasn't too bad, but the meat was a bit chewy therefore a napkin was needed! It would have been anyways with my habit of missing my mouth :) Only after did we realize there were ones with chicken and orange and such on them...next time we'll be a little more prepared to order!
